What is the perfume made of?

The smells floating around us

Aromas surround us on all sides, whether we are indoors or outdoors, among people or among animals, and each scent is of a different kind. Being in a crowd, after a while we stop paying attention to them until one aroma starts to stand out decisively.

A nice, intriguing, succulent scent makes anyone within its range wonder about its source. We are talking about specifics created in laboratories, namely perfumes, which contain compositions of scents of plant and animal origin, or were created from a combination of different, aromatic chemical compounds.

The best women's perfumes are produced with a specific and named fragrance. This is a painstaking and lengthy process, consisting of several stages - each of which requires the utmost precision, hygiene and patience, since during the creation of fragrance compositions it is sometimes possible to make a mistake in proportions, resulting in an unintended effect.

Fragrances in antiquity

Fragrance created from essential oils has been known since ancient times. The art of extracting fragrances from plants was practiced by the ancient Egyptians, who used them to honor their rites and rituals. These substances were also used to rub on the body and hair in ancient Greece.

Over the years, the technique of extracting essential oils from plants improved, and they also learned to preserve the scent with alcohol, which allowed them to develop perfume production on a larger scale and a better ability to store them for longer.

Soon, the scents made their way to Europe and other continents, where they learned to blend them together, as well as to create synthetic aromas and add them to natural scents from plant oils.

What is the perfume made of?

For the production of perfumes, essential oils are used, contained in plants - most often flowers, herbs, fragrant grasses, tree bark or aromatic spices, such as cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and the like; zoonotic fragrances - present in musk, ambergris, honey, as well as synthetic fragrances, created for the needs of a particular batch of perfumes. Nowadays, of the natural animal scents, only honey is sometimes used, while musk and ambergris scents are replaced by synthetics.

How is the production of perfume carried out?

Professional perfume production begins with the acceptance of an order for a batch of perfume with a specific fragrance composition, which may be dominated by an established citrus, floral or spicy aroma. After the recipe is developed and all the necessary ingrediences are mixed, a fixative is added, followed by the fragrance carrier, in the form of ethanol, oil or water. The final step is to color the finished product in any color or leave it transparent. The whole thing is sealed in airtight containers and set aside until the ingredients mix and take on the intended scent.

Once this stage is completed, a series of tests follows to check the durability of the fragrance, mixing with other fragrances found on the substrate of the test surface, and the possibility of causing side effects when applied to human skin. If the tests come out successfully, the quality of the perfume produced does not raise any objections, and its fragrance has received the approval of the ordering party, the product is bottled in decorative flacons, which are then packed in cardboard boxes and handed over to the ordering party.
